HABITAT
Inspired by the Scandinavian design attitude of warmth and restraint, the small lot development of six single family homes replaced a lone house on an oversize lot. Developed to address Los Angeles’s need for housing densification and availability, the cluster of homes are oriented around a central courtyard where residents can gather. The different plans of the buildings paid close attention to positioning of views to create privacy between neighboring residences.
Featuring a natural palette of warm woods, marble, concrete, steel and glass, each home feels distinct with their differing layouts and details. Entering through a private garden, the lower level houses the garage and flexible room. Ten foot ceilings give an airy open vibe to the living, dining, kitchen level. Two bedrooms with en suite baths occupy the top floor.
